On Friday, new White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci took the press room by storm in the first on-camera briefing in nearly a month. Though, it seems what he was most impressed with was the person doing the hair and make-up for the White House.
During an appearance on CNN’s State of the Union, Scaramucci said that he, personally, would like to do on-camera briefings, but that decision is up to the president and incoming Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders.
He then revealed all he’s asked of her after her promotion:
I want to do everything I can to make her better at that podium. I think she is phenomenal there now. But like every athlete that is training for the Olympics, every day, we have got to make ourselves incrementally better.
The only thing I ask Sarah — Sarah, if you’re watching, I loved the hair and makeup person that we had on Friday. So, I would like to continue to use the hair and makeup person.
Tapper, with some wry snark, ended the interview there.
“Anthony, you can always swing by CNN,” he said, adding they “have hair and makeup here, if you ever need it.”
Scaramucci laughed, and teased Tapper that maybe their folks overdid it a little. “Yes, you got — you got a lot on today,” he said, adding, “you look tan and refreshed.”
Earlier in the interview, Scaramucci said that President Trump is “going to win [the White House] again. “I will bring a box of Kleenex over here to CNN in 2020.”
